Joseph Eichler's mid-century modern style found a home in Granada Hills

Charles Danek used to think no house could outshine his cliffside mid-century modern, surrounded by nature and the rugged canyons of the Hollywood Hills. And then he fell hard for an Eichler: builder Joseph Eichler's postwar tract housing like the kind found in Balboa Highlands in Granada Hills. It's been declared an Historic Preservation Overlay Zone and will be featured on a Friends of the Gamble House tour next Saturday.
Eichler has become synonymous with the laid-back California lifestyle. The houses are stylish with clean lines, post-and-beam framing and glass walls.
